Strategies- activate prior knowledge- If you needed surgery, would you want a high quality hospital? Or a low quality? Why?

Inquiry- Is it important to have quality work in a quality classroom? Why?

Scenario 1– Elena is reading a comic book during class. Is she part of a quality classroom? Why?

Scenario 2– Jodie is yelling across the room to her friend Helene. Is she part of a quality classroom? Why?

Scenario 3- Sandy did not do her homework last night. Did she do quality work? Why?

Assessment Closure: What qualities do you have to contribute to this quality classroom?

What qualities can you improve to make this classroom higher quality?

Collect responses.

Rationale for primary strategy- I am using inquiry and brainstorming as the two main strategies. These are important because they stimulate the students to think about quality. The brainstorming also provides an opportunity to work together as a team at their table.
